How to prepare a clean background removal
Choose a usable source image and inspect the edges before exporting your cutout.
Choose an image the tool can understand
Background removal separates a subject from its surroundings. The result depends on the source image: a sharp subject, adequate lighting, and contrast around the edges usually make separation easier. Start with the highest-quality original available. An image copied from a compressed preview may have blurred edges that become more visible after the background is removed.
For a product photo, include the entire item and leave space around it. Check for cut-off handles, transparent packaging, fine wires, and reflections. These details can resemble the background, so plan to review them individually rather than assuming every visible feature will be retained automatically.
Run the cutout and inspect it
Open ClearCut and upload your image. The connected service manages its own account and usage requirements. If sign-in cannot finish inside the workspace, use Open standalone to complete it in the original service, then return to OKMYAPP. Avoid refreshing or switching away while the tool is exporting a result.
Inspect the cutout against both a light background and a dark background. Light fringes become obvious on dark surfaces, while dark halos can disappear on dark surfaces and reappear on white. Pay special attention to hair, fur, curved edges, and the spaces between parts of the subject. Zoom in for corrections, then zoom out to judge the image at its intended display size.
Refine without changing the product
Use the available manual refinement controls for areas that the automatic result missed. Restore genuine product details instead of painting a new outline. For commercial images, keep colors, proportions, textures, and included accessories faithful to the actual item. A cleaner background should improve clarity without creating a misleading presentation.
Some materials are difficult to separate. Glass, mesh, smoke, and motion blur can contain a mixture of foreground and background information. A fully transparent cutout may not preserve a natural appearance in these cases. Consider a simple solid background or a better source photo when repeated edits do not produce a usable result.
Export for the destination
Use a transparency-supporting format such as PNG when the destination needs a transparent background. JPEG does not preserve transparency. Reopen the exported file and confirm that the checkerboard in the editor was a preview of transparency rather than a pattern baked into the image.
For a website, resize the finished image to the dimensions needed by the layout instead of serving an unnecessarily large original. ImageFit can help create that version. Keep the original and the full-resolution cutout for future use. Before uploading to a marketplace, check its current requirements for dimensions, background color, image content, and file size.
