Clean text without losing its meaning

Use counts and simple transformations to prepare a readable draft.

Check the draft before changing it

Paste your text into TextLab to see its word, character, and line counts. The word count treats whitespace-separated segments as words. It is a useful quick estimate, but a school, editor, or platform may count hyphenated words, symbols, and languages without spaces differently. Use the destination's own counter for a final submission requirement.

Choose a specific transformation

Trim extra spaces removes repeated spaces and tabs within a line and removes whitespace at the edges. It keeps paragraph breaks. Remove blank lines is a separate action because empty lines may carry meaning in poetry, transcripts, and structured notes. Uppercase and lowercase affect the entire draft, including proper names and abbreviations. Keep a copy before making a transformation.

Review and export

Undo restores the text before the most recent transformation. Copy text uses your browser's clipboard permission, and Download TXT exports a plain text file. Plain text does not preserve fonts, emphasis, tables, or footnotes. Check punctuation, names, paragraph boundaries, and required formatting after moving the draft into its final document.

TextLab processes your text in the current browser and does not send it to an AI service. Unsaved drafts are lost when the page is closed. With Google sign-in, Save work or Download TXT stores a private editable snapshot in Saved work. Guests can download and copy without signing in.
